If you recycle the food waste in your backyard, you are still in the habit of recycling. But did you know that some of these residues can be used to grow new plants?
These are the seven most common plants chosen by the NNC team, and their residues can be used to re-grow them:
Both white and sweet potatoes can be grown. Take the sprouted potatoes and leave them at room temperature, somewhat dehydrated. Alternatively, if the sprouted potato is thicker, cut it into 2-3 bits, making sure that all sections are sprouted.
Plant them in a shallow container or directly in the yard. When the roots begin to expand, add another layer of soil. Sweet potatoes sprout readily and can be planted deeper in the garden.
Plant an onion that has started to sprout at a depth of about 1 cm in a sunny area. If possible, water it. There should be enough water, but not too much, as too much water will cause the root to rot. You’ll see fresh slips sprouting up quickly. When cocksfoot appears, the irrigation should be minimized.
The majority of the garlic found in our markets comes from China, where it is sprayed with chemicals to preserve it and enable it to fly thousands of miles. So, if you want good, organic garlic in your diet, grow it yourself!
First, invest in your health; it is better, saves money, and is much easier to cultivate, so there are no excuses!
While fall is the best time to plant garlic, he can be planted at any time. As with onions, needs to weed, so it is better to provide a nylon or straw cover that will provide ample moisture.
Garlic will help onions, cabbage, raspberries, strawberries, beets, and roses grow faster. It should not be served with beans or peas.
Planting: Make a 5 cm deep hole in the soil with your finger. Plant the clove with the root facing down. As with onions, fresh, young slips will emerge after a while.
Place the lettuce in a bowl of water with its root. Every day, the water should be updated. Spray the leaves every now and then. The lettuce and need to be in a sunshine place. You’ll be surprised by how easily the lettuce grows. You will have fresh leaves in just two days.
When the plant begins to grow, it should be watered once a week. Pineapple takes time to mature, and the first fruit can emerge after 2-3 years.
Celery In the same manner as the lettuce, incise the celery about 2-3 cm above the root and place it in a bowl of water. If you place the dish in a bright, sunny location, new leaves will sprout. For 1-2 weeks, it should be sprayed with water.
Place the cabbage, along with its root, in a bowl of water, taking care not to soak the leaves, as this would cause them to rot. Change the water in the bowl every day; spray it with water 1-2 days a week, and keep it in a sunny spot.
