Recipe for Bacon Cheese Jalapeno Bread
You will need:
- 12-14 slices of quality cooked, crumbled bacon such as applewood smoked
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 4 oz cream cheese at room temperature
- 2 cups shredded cheese
- 2 diced jalapeños seeds removed
- 2 thinly sliced scallions (optional)
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
Requirements
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Grease a 9-by-5-inch or 9-by-6-inch loaf pan.
Cook the bacon. Remove the pan from the heat, place it on a paper towel to absorb any excess grease, and crumble the bacon when cool.
In a small mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
Combine bacon, cream cheese, shredded cheese(s), jalapeos, and scallions in a large mixing bowl.
If you prefer it hotter, adjust the number of jalapeos and add more, or leave the bacon and cheese to take center stage.
Combine the flour mixture, egg, melted butter, and milk in a mixing bowl.
Bake the batter in a greased loaf pan for about 50 minutes.
Your family will adore it, so make at least two loaves of bacon cheese jalapeno bread!
You can even freeze it and slice it whenever you want. Place the slices in a freezer bag after wrapping them in foil. You simply need to reheat them in the oven later.
Have fun!
