You may not know that your shampoo might only produce a stinging feeling in your eyes. This hair product can apparently be fatal.

A survey on soaps and shampoos carried out by the Oakland, California Center for Environmental Health revealed that 98 of the items included had a possible cancer called cocamide diethanolamine (cocamide DEA).

Shampoos made by Palmolive, Colomer, Colgate, Paul Mitchell and several others are some of the highest ingredients. In addition, several of the items examined which included cocamide DEA were really meant for the children or contained a false organic label in contradiction with the legislation of California.

CEH Executive Director Michael Green says “Most people assume that goods offered in big supermarkets are safely vetted, but consumers need to be aware that every time they wash or shampoo they may be cured of a carcinogen.

We want corporations to act rapidly to remove this unwarranted risk to the health of our children and families.”

The CEH tests also found cocamide DEA in storage brand goods offered at Kohl, Pharmaca, Walmart and Trader Joe, despite various personal care products and brand name shampoos.

CEH has tests for substantial levels of DEA cocamide for fraudulently labeled organic items from African Organic Best. In addition, a child shampoo/conditioner from Babies R Us and a kid’s bubble bath from Kmart were likewise the same carcinogenic component.

It is preferable to have your own homemade natural shampoo to avoid such problems, to decrease the potential risk due to the hazardous chemicals in the goods you buy.
